The Apothecary is a new wine brand from Relic Wine Cellars, in St. Helena, California. Run by Michael Hirby and Schatzi Throckmorton, Relic makes modern, full-bodied wines with an obsession for the old way of doing things. When Relic approached us to design The Apothecary, we jumped at the chance.

Built around a distinctive, short bottle, our design evokes a time when wine was seen not just something to enjoy, but something genuinely good for you. On the label, delicate typography and texture intermingle like the tannin and fruit of the wine.

The project took about three weeks from concept to completion. We printed digitally in San Francisco, then the bottles were wax-dipped by hand and ready to ship around the country. Some of our good friends and clients may have even had a chance to taste the end product for the holidays.

Want to taste what's in those bottles? You can get on the Relic mailing list and order some. There's a Pinot Noir, a Cabenet Sauvignon, and an "Old Vines" blend of Carignane and Petite Sirah, our favorite.
